for the okami contest. this might need a tad bit explaining as it's sort of a visual pun for sumi... uhh. well, the deep part of an inkstone is referred to as the 'umi' or ocean, and it's where most of the ink resides. i think with that you can get the rest of the picture. i've never actually been able to play the game [though i really really really hella wish i could, thus why i'm entering this contest] so i'm not actually sure if amaterasu uses her tail as a brush. but whatevs!
this was done entirely in photoshop elements so that's a first for me. it's also entry one of god knows how many. yes, i'm working on more.

I really like how much you thought about this, and the fantastic perspective. She really does look like she's running at quite some speed!
Contrary to what a previous commenter said, I actually really LIKE the blacked out eyes and the glowing flames. The ink-splat paw prints leading up to the mountains look excellent, that's actually one of my favourite parts of this :3 (and the paws, you draw animal anatomy so well!)
